As the Holidays approach, I can not help but find myself in a retrospective mood. Where did the year go? Time passes and I realize it has been months since I have seen a few of my busy dear friends. No blame, no judgment, I of all people understand how the momentum of life can propel us forward leaving us wind-blown and exhausted.
A longing has grown in me for a simpler time, a time when we sat together for a meal or lazily chatted over tea and pastries. I have been so blessed with friends and family who support and sustain me even if those connections have been slightly neglected. Miraculously, all it takes is a phone call or email and you can easily pick up right where you left off.
As the leaves fall and the air grows cooler, we can be assured of the promise of new growth in the spring, just as we can count on those we care for to weather our laxity. We may not see them as often as we like but the people we love are nestled close, ready to bloom at the first sign of the Sun’s warmth.
